A hummingbird’s delight, this rare perennial is from the southern mountains of New Mexico, where it is found in just three locations. Introduced into the trade by the Denver Botanic Garden and a Plant Select winner, this beauty blooms over a long period with terminal clusters of small, true-red, nectar rich flowers which are pollinated by hummingbirds. Grows 2 - 4 ft. tall by 2 ft. wide, with rich green, serrated leaves that provide a striking contrast to the wands of showy, brightly colored blossoms. Plant in full sun with afternoon shade in hot areas, where it will be drought tolerant, but best with occasional watering in the summer.
