small leaved oregano
Native to Crete, this sweet little oregano is a useful addition to the front of a border, rock garden or container planting. Tiny aromatic leaves form a low, small scale ground cover. The flowers are held on slender, wiry stems 10 inches to a foot above the fragrant foliage and are made up of tiny pink blossoms nestled in small papery bracts. Plant in full sun to light shade with moderate to a little summer water. Shear after flowering for best ground hugging appearance. Looking deceptively delicate, this sturdy perennial is eye catching, attractive to bees and deer resistant.
