Muhlenbergia pubescens

Mexican muhly

This beautiful bunchgrass forms clumps of velvety-soft, blue-grey blades, 1 to 2 ft. tall and 3 ft. wide. Airy plumes of pale-lilac grass flowers rise to 3 foot above the graceful mounds in the autumn and fade to tan. Native to Central Mexico, this beauty is hardy to around 15 - 20F. Best with good drainage and full sun to very light shade and moderate to occasional water. A tidy grass, which does not require annual cutting back. Deer resistant.
