WHAT'S NEW

11/16/07
In the fall as our sales slow down we are still very busy with propagation. This is the only time that native iris can be divided with any degree of reliability. Our friend Ryan Grisso has given us a bunch of divisions of the stunning Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris which he crosses and selects. We pot them up into long narrow plastic sleeves for spring sales.

Buckeye nuts (Aesculus californica) and many native trees and shrubs are being sown or pre-treated now.

Our neighbor's kitten has taken to spending much of the day at Cal-Flora, generally charming us and our customers alike. She prefers sleeping in a pot of dormant native orchids, Epipactus gigantea 'Serpentine Night'.

We still have small quantities of the lovely native dogwood (an Oregon selection) Cornus sericea 'Hedgerow's Gold' shown here in its delightful fall color.
