Beautiful glaucus blue blades on long stems 3 - 4 ft. tall. Profuse airy panicles flower in late summer and rise a little above the foliage. This is an adaptable species tolerating full sun or light shade and a wide variety of soil types and moisture levels. Drought tolerant once established, but best with moderate water. Dies back in the winter, often providing some nice fall color before going dormant. Cut to the ground in winter or early spring. Once was a major component of American tallgrass prairie. Deer resistant.
