A beautiful species with glaucous blue blades. 'Cloud Nine' reaches for the sky growing up to 8 ft. tall in flower. Profuse airy panicles flower in late summer atop the erect stalks. Turns a pleasing dark gold in autumn.
An adaptable species, tolerating full sun or light shade and a wide variety of soil types and moisture levels. Drought tolerant once established but best with moderate water.
Was once a major component of the American tall grass prairie. Dies back in winter. Deer resistant.
