*Mahonia repens
creeping mahonia

Low (to 3 ft.), spreading (by underground stems) evergreen groundcover (bronzy in winter). Native from Northern California to British Columbia, does well in sun to partial shade, and when established needs little water. Yellow flowers are followed by blue berries that attract birds. Fruits eaten by robins, finches and towhees. The flowers have nectar for hummingbirds. Deer resistant.
