Hypericum balearicum
St. Johnswort

Small evergreen shrub native to the Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain. Dark green, leathery leaves covered with warty glands growing 18 inches to 2 ft. tall and wide (sometimes more). Flowers over a long period with 1 1/2 inch bright yellow flowers with a showy central burst of stamens. Needs good drainage, full sun to light shade, moderate to little summer water. Nice rock garden item. Deer don’t usually eat hypericums.
