Ferula communis ‘Gigantea’
fennel

This mediterranean native produces clumps of threadlike leaves in winter and spring - going dormant by midsummer. After several years it produces a massive flower stalk, up to 10 ft. tall with numerous umbels of yellow flowers. It sometimes dies after this enormous effort, sometimes continues on. Big, bold, impressive. Sun. Good drainage. Drought tolerant.
