Centaurea gymnocarpa
dusty miller

This is one of several plants commonly called "dusty miller". Grows quickly to form large clumps of white, felty, finely divided foliage, 1 to 2 ft. tall by 3 ft. wide. Summer brings purple one inch flowers to the tips of the leafy branches. A willing grower in full sun with moderate to a little summer water. Cut back after bloom to keep tidy. Has proven deer resistant in some areas. Bees love the flowers.
