Carex flacca
blue sedge

Blue sedge makes an excellent ground cover and filler. Slowly spreading, the blue gray blades form a creeping mat around 6 inches tall. Not invasive-easy to control where it is unwanted. Best in moist soil in cool sun to light shade. Will tolerate some drought but best with regular water. Tolerates light foot traffic and tree root competition. Semi-deciduous in all but the mildest climates. Shear back to freshen. Deer resistant.
