A much sought after native evergreen shrub with beautiful anemone-like flowers. Highly restricted in its natural distribution and considered rare, this shrub has a long history of cultivation. Dark green leathery leaves on upright stems 5 - 10 ft. tall. The bright, white 2 - 3 inch, lightly fragrant blossoms make a dazzling late spring display. Grows well in both coastal and interior climates, where it will grow in sun or light shade, benefiting from afternoon shade in hot interior sites. Best with occasional summer water. Responds well to pruning to improve its form and to encourage fresh new growth.
