Belamcanda chinensis
blackberry lily

Iris relative with sword-shaped leaves in fanlike clumps from slowly spreading rhizomes. Summer brings tall, zigzag stems, 3 - 4 ft. tall with sprays of yellow-orange flowers with red dots. Each flower lasts only a day, but new blossoms follow for weeks. Interesting and ornamental rounded seed capsules split open to expose shiny black seeds that look like blackberries. The seed pods are useful dried in flower arrangements. Cool full sun to light shade with regular water.
