*Arctostaphylos manzanita
(Napa County)
manzanita

A good subject for a dry sunny bank. The cuttings of this manzanita came from the dry slopes of Napa County. A handsome rounded shrub 6 ft. tall by 10 ft. wide. Flowers heavily in the early spring with white urn-shaped flowers blushed pink, followed by small apple-like fruits. The manzanita berries can attract mockingbirds, robins, and Cedar Waxwings. It provides low shrubby cover for quail and wren-tits and its flowers provide nectar for hummingbirds.
