columbine

A beautiful native columbine which grows in moist places in the Coast Ranges (Mendocino to Ventura counties) often on serpentine soils. Forms a mound of foliage with flowering stalks 2 - 3 1/2 ft. tall. Large orangey-red flowers with yellow spurs. The pendant, brightly colored blossoms are attractive to hummingbirds. Moist soils, cool sun to light shade.
