Tropical looking biennial herb, growing the first year with large compound leaves. The second year brings greenish-white flowers in large umbels that rise on tall, hollow stems 4 - 6 ft. high. Prefers moist soils in semi-shade.
As the name implies, angelica has religious associations and uses that include curing illness and protection from evil spells as well as many culinary uses.
An interesting and striking plant, angelica self sows readily, replacing itself with new plants after the original plant goes to seed.
