Always on the look out for new and different forms of favorite native species, spotted this yarrow growing in western Sonoma County. The soft green ferny foliage is topped with flower stems 18-32 inches tall with flower heads of the softest shade of pink. The pink blushed petals fade to ivory white as they age. Yarrows are easy to grow spreading perennials for full sun with moderate to occasional summer water. Good addition to the habitat garden where the flowers attract butterflies and bees and the foliage provides winter forage for juncos, sparrows and towhees.
