A beautiful glowing golden version of bear's breech. A big and bold perennial forming large clumps of deeply lobed glossy golden foliage 2 ft. x 2 ft. or more. Tall spikes of hooded smoky-purple flowers late spring or summer. Tough and adaptable, tolerating a wide range of conditions. Best with some shade, especially protection from the hot afternoon sun. Moderate to occasional water, will go dormant if allowed to go too dry. Wonderfully architectural and useful but it does have invasive roots. Give it plenty of room and sturdy companions it won't overwhelm. Deer resistant.
