Abutilon 'Teardrop'
flowering maple

A charming Abutilon cultivar to 5 ft. tall with flowers that dangle like ornaments along the long slender branches. The teardrop-shaped inflated calyces are red with bright yellow skirts of petals peeking out the tapered ends. Blooms over a long period, from spring through fall and into winter in mild areas. Can grow in full sun along the coast, part shade in hot regions with moderate summer water. Responds well to pruning, and is an excellent container or espalier subject. A hummingbird favorite.
